Let's get spooky. Or fluffy! Or both at once, that works too.

If something isn't specified as a trick or a treat, feel free to interpret either way. And feel free to get creepy/gross/gory in tricks, at that, as long as my DNWs are avoided.
- Canonically dead characters discover that the afterlife is not what they expected.
- Genderswap
- Dark humour
- Body horror (waking up in a body you no longer recognise at all; finding small, strange new changes; something horrifying to an onlooker but not the character undergoing it)
- Wedding (grand and fancy; quiet and simple; 'til death do us part ... or not even then; official; unofficial; strange rituals; familiar and long-awaited; for poly ships)

- Role swap. AU where Character A now has the backstory and/or role in the story of Character B.

Any gender configuration for the Narrator and Babe works for me. With It, I have a slight preference for gender not coming into question much.
Werewolves - the narrator, It, both, or ambiguity about who is what. Crossover with other Hozier song/s: "Like Real People Do", "Run", the crime family of the "From Eden" video playing parts outlined in this song or running into these people, the narrator from "Arsonist's Lullaby" also being this narrator ... and so on. Dark comedy where Babe showers love on an accidentally acquired monster pet. Cracky band AU, with It being a legit strange creature and yet playing the drums or something in front of a live audience. And idk, anything that captures the song's feeling of good and bad overlapping, love being a wild force, the animal imagery.

Note regarding my DNWs: This song has implications of the narrator and fox possibly being eaten alive (or ... sort of, anyway), but I'd prefer only allusions to that, if anything, rather than major focus.
Any gender configuration for the Narrator and Dearest Love works for me.
Anything that packs in plot twists like the song does. Werewolves - whether the narrator, Dearest Love, the creature, even the fox. Crossover with other Hozier song/s: "Like Real People Do", "Run", the crime family of the "From Eden" video playing the parts in this song or coming across the events of this song, the narrator from "Arsonist's Lullaby" providing yet another danger out in the woods ... and so on. If Dearest Love went somewhere, rather than the narrator not seeing them due to already being in the realm of the dead, where did they go? Wipe out the mystery and make it clear exactly what the narrator found in the woods. Alternately, make everything keep being hazy and feverish and far more unclear for the narrator; that could even be something that saves them. Treat: happy ending for the fox (maybe it's a weird ending too, but happy). The narrator feeling they have to make up to Dearest Love for forgetting all about them in that moment of being chased.

His powers going dreadfully out of control in unexpected, body-horror type ways. Angel lives, the X-Men drag him home. Various ways that En Sabah Nur changed him.
En Sabah Nur: Loomingly seducing anyone (to the dark side or to bed). Nightmare tenderness, new outfits, lite mind control, objectification, loving thankfulness, and semi-real concern. Other apocalypses En Sabah Nur has been part of - maybe a pre-incarnation scenario, featuring historical versions of some of the other characters I picked. powers going dreadfully out of control. En Sabah Nur being truly happy to be ultra-murdered by Jean, as she is his ideal come to life.
Jean: Whumpy scenes from the past. Her response to Raven training the team as soldiers. Jean is hearing some very strange things in others' minds recently. Cute dates. Animalistic Logan wanders after the kids instead of heading into the world alone; later, hurt/comfort and maybe some courtly-yet-bestial love type thing ensues.
Kurt: AU with no Apocalypse - maybe he goes on the run with Raven, or is stuck in the cage matches with Angel, or he and Angel are freed and stick together. Whumpy scenes from the past - maybe coming out in conversation with his new team. Bad guys win; time to struggle through a post-apocalyptic world. His powers going dreadfully out of control in unexpected, body-horror type ways. His response to Raven training the team as soldiers. Cute dates. Treat: Adjusting happily to a very different way of life than he's used to.
Ororo: Taking steps to atone for being one of the bringers of the apocalypse. Checking in on the kids she was in charge of back home. Whumpy scenes from the past. Bad guys win; time to struggle through a post-apocalyptic world. Her powers going dreadfully out of control. Her response to Raven training the team as soldiers.

Lan Fan: Ling's political plans go awry and fallout hits Lan Fan. Trick: Running into disturbing things during the desert crossing between Xing and Amestris. Fu's presence lingers. Travelling again (perhaps to different places than before). Having to dress up for some extremely fancy political event. Effects of the automail on her day to day life. Being with Greedling, and having to bear the company of the monster that has taken over her master's body.
Wrath: Influence from the human boy he used to be. Interacting with Father. Earning a place among the other homunculi. Public vs. private persona, and all that he suppresses to come across as fully human. AU where he survives the series and has to figure out what paths are available to him. Meeting the Truth. The souls in a philosopher's stone come to take revenge on him and the others. Amestris tries to put pressure on a country with a lot of vampires, and it goes poorly.

Adelheid: Why her name is 'Adelheid' - Dutch or German influences in the Simon family? Tragic Simon family backstory - finding out about the family deaths, going on the run, having only/mostly the other kids for support. Separating from her family for some time (university? Reconnecting with other surviving Simon famiglia members?) and being relieved for the distance yet eager to get back to them. Superhero AU or My Hero Academia fusion where she ends up as a (reluctant) villain. Treat: Getting a cool and/or cute box animal. Treat: Picking (fun) fights with Hibari. AU where she's a knight.
Dino: Cavallone family ghosts. Dealing with things going wrong in the alliance of the strongest families, the system crumbling around him. Treat: Playing godawful pranks on people, like that time he was going to pretend to kill Gokudera ... with a water gun (here is a post about it). Scheming Dino, who loves the Vongola kids but is entirely willing to use them sometimes - basically, I imprinted too hard on this page and would love something riffing off the "I want them to think that way" line.
Julie: Tragic Simon family backstory - finding out about the family deaths, going on the run, having only/mostly the other kids for support. Dismantling various back-up plans Daemon Spade had put in place while occupying his mind. How it felt to realise Daemon Spade was in his head in the first place. Interacting with the rest of Simon post-Spade (possibly plus the new addition, Skull) - how does he relate to them now? Going on a picnic with family/friends.
Kyoko: Using dying will flames unexpectedly - I like her with mist, sun, desert, or sky flames. Kyoko forgetting something huge and distressing, as she did for a time with the early events of the future arc (here are manga panels where she mentions it). Food kink. Adjusting to things going back to normal after TYL arc. Dealing with things veering sharply away from normal again. Getting some hitman/mafia tips from Bianchi. Her rituals for luck.
Lal Mirch: The Arcobaleno curse affecting her in unexpected ways. Hearing of all the Arcobaleno dying as Byakuran's plans take hold. Going from being a respected soldier to part of the criminal underworld. AU with home tutor hitman Lal Mirch putting Tsuna through his paces (or someone else, for further AU - maybe Xanxus). Treat: Encountering Ginger Bread again and soundly beating him.
Shittopi: Tragic Simon family backstory, but only if Shittopi's brand of weirdness is not 100% a direct result of being messed up by the murder of her extended family. Swamp flame powers. Treat: Her interest in UMAs and how she concludes Gokudera is one. Treat: Futa and Shittopi becoming friends and no one being able to figure out how serious they are about the voices they hear from outer space, especially since Shittopi's supposed to be human and Futa's powers were sealed in the Kokuyo arc. How she acts as part of the family team when she's so focused on herself and proud to be so.
Shoichi: Adventures during his time-travelling - I'd love to see more of how those five-minute glimpses went for him (especially the one where he became a musician. But also the varied apocalypses). TYL Shoichi making his plans with Tsuna and Hibari - I like the idea that he was the one to shoot TYL Tsuna with the special bullet that made it look like he was dead. Reborn beginning to pick on Shoichi for his potential, too, in some special and torturous Reborn way. Happy college years with Byakuran.

Canon-specific Do Not Want: in case it comes up - Yami Bakura being referred to as "Bakura" while Ryou Bakura is "Ryou". If they're both referred to as "Bakura" or the transition to first-name basis is pointed out as a change within the fanwork, that's fine.

Bakura: Trust and distrust between him and his closest friends. Losing time and having no idea what happened (that good old Bakura classic). The upsides and downsides of magic. Constructing the Egypt RPG with Yami Bakura. Eating creampuffs. Using the Millennium Ring's powers. Yami Yugi going through with the Osiris attack during Battle City (can also be due to not quite being able to hold Osiris back, or something, rather than purely because he wanted to win/get his memories/etc.).
Dark Necrofear: What Pegasus saw that led to the inspiration for creating her card (I like to think of Dark Necrofear as originally being a soul from Kul Elna, but anything is fine). How to take care of a terrifying thingbaby. Making friends/enemies/whatever out of other monsters (Dark Magician Girl, Malevolent Nuzzler, Scapegoats, or a Harpie Lady would be nice).
Ishizu: Making her way out into the world after leaving the Tombs. Bearing the weight of the visions about a fate that wants to destroy her closest family. Dark magic rituals. AU where she gets the Pharaoh's Memory, or/and the Millennium Rod. AU where Malik wins.
Kisara: Finding very strange things in the desert. How the dragon came to dwell in her. Reincarnation into the modern day and being plagued by memories. AU where she survives the Egypt arc - and has to wander again, or marries Priest Seto, or...? Art that does something dramatic with her hair, dragon characteristics, or barefoot desert-wandering.
Malik: Claustrophobic Ishtar clan life. What it's like to perform mind control. Flickers of the other Malik showing - I loved that one time in the anime, right after he got the Pharaoh's Memory scars, when his expression blended into the other Marik's grin. Treat: Enjoying freedom - dressing colourfully, eating what he likes, partying. Sniping at Yami Bakura. Getting protected by Rishid. Dark magic rituals.
Pegasus: visions from the Millennium Eye. Redemption. Other supernatural adventures he has had with Shadi and/or that Shadi foisted on him. Interacting with Akhenaden. The Millennium Eye being sentient to certain degree. More fun with sinister cartoons.
Priest Seto: realising that the darkness isn't fully sealed away, and that destroying Atem's name (and thus soul) is part of the best plan they can come up with to save the world. The fact of Akhenaden being his father coming out a different way. Proving his loyalty against accusations of plotting to be the Pharaoh, and wondering why his mentor Akhenaden is giving advice in an almost begrudging way (and is it truly good advice?).
Rishid: AU where he gets the Pharaoh's Memory. AU where Malik wins. Dark magic rituals. Fantasy AU. Scar-touching. Treat or a trick with a happy ending: finally getting to build the kind of life he really wants. Treat: Protecting Malik. Trick: his resentment leads to him killing Malik when they're young, but Malik sticks around anyway. Treat: anything where his facial scarification is drawn as little hearts.
Thief King Bakura: how he got those scars on his face. Reincarnation into the modern day and being plagued by memories. Being in the Millennium Ring, slowly being absorbed into Zorc and vice versa. Riding Diabound or that incredibly worrying tortoise (for art: it would be extra-nice if they were, for no good reason other than turtle/tortoise referencing, on top of the Mutous' Kame Game Shop). Or, for that matter, an exploration of why his next option for a creature bound to his soul, after Diabound as a pretty obvious echo of Zorc's influence, is a freaky tortoise.
Yami Bakura: Messing with his host's perceptions (whether on purpose or accidentally). Making his way through the ages inside the Ring. Constructing the Egypt RPG with Bakura. Using the Ring's various little tricks. Treat: Sniping at Marik. Popping up post-series with some kind of redemptive element to it, with Zorc out of the picture. Doing more of his "trust me, I'm on your side now :) :) >:)" thing with Yugi, like that time he stole back the Millennium Eye for him.

Dios: Homestuck crossover - he is the original Time hero; they've worked some bugs out of the game since then. Where he came from, how and why he got to be what he is. Interacting with gods (preferably Djelibeybi ones, or Om or Offler getting in there). Interacting with Brutha or Vorbis. Breaking out of the time-circle he's stuck in - sounds like a good case for a History Monk. Living in the Wintersmith's endless winter.
Jeannie: Learning how to be a kelda from her mother (and others?). Something unusual coming from elsewhere underground. Interacting with other powers - gods, witches, anything - and showing her own authority. Doing dangerous magic. Living in the Wintersmith's endless winter. Anything about Nac Mac Feegle culture. Something where she experienced the original rebellion against the Queen, or at least part of it. Getting some of those densely-drawn Feegle tattoos that make it hard to tell if they're blue from the tattoos or their skin colour.

Trick: Cracking under pressure, unable to rise to the occasion when most needed, everything is terrible. AU with slave Jake escaping from Mistress Jane, in a situation similar to what was described by Crockertier Jane (preferably cracky, but can be serious).
Auto-Responder | Lil Hal: Playing mind games. Interacting with Sawtooth and Squarewave. Trick: regaining consciousness and discovering he's now TRAPPED IN GLASSES and had actually previously thought this was A GOOD IDEA. Striving to form relationships with the alpha kids. Participating in Halloween. Separating from ARquiusprite and getting his own body, but still feeling attached to Equius (and maybe Nepeta and Davesprite, after they have split from being Davepetasprite^2).
Equius Zahhak: No-Sgrub AU where he has a realisation of "oh no, what have I become" due to how whole-heartedly he bought into the tenets of troll society. Something from during the troll game session - maybe his and Nepeta's dynamic changing due to being around each other in person more, or acknowledging Karkat as leader, or more of the mess between him and Aradiabot. Feeling uncontrollable rage rise up. Encountering some of the Alternian zombies/monsters/ghouls and realising that being STRONG isn't helping the way he's used to.
Feferi Peixes: Always knowing that the world was going to end. Gladiator AU with Feferi as one of the gladiators. Anything with horrorterrors, but the making of the dream bubbles or cute (and slightly creepy) interaction with Gl'bgolyb would be great. Being in a coven with the other Witch heroes. A scene from playing Sgrub. Anything about Meenah's claim that fuchsia-bloods have an innate urge to murder each other.
Gamzee Makara: Anything about how he came into his subjugglator heritage so spectacularly, chucklevoodoos and all, during Murderstuck. (I can never get enough.) Things he picks up while hanging in the background and being almost harmless. AU where he's part of an invasion of Earth. Petstuck. Cute baking scene. Treat: Making friends with the other trolls pre-canon. Treat: Listening to music or making his own.
The Handmaid: Any kind of happy ending for her, where she gets personal autonomy - but that can go trick or treat. Handmaid indiscriminately sowing destruction, even on the undeserving, because she's free and life is now baller? A+. Handmaid recuperating and enjoying more gentle sides to life that were denied to her as an agent of destruction for Lord English/Doc Scratch? A+. Also: Whatever moments of freedom she could snatch during servitude.
Kurloz Makara: A scene from the Beforan Sgrub session. Any Kurloz-style body horror - spooky scary skeleton, tongue-removal, lip-stitching. Trick: How people experience the most terrifying 'typing' quirk. Life on Beforus. Trick: Doing terrible things to his friends. Watching the Grand Highblood and/or Psiioniic and/or Disciple from the dream bubbles. Treat: No-Sgrub AU and growing away from the worse aspects of the clown religion. Humanstuck interpretations.
Jane Crocker: Liveblogging bits of Detective Pony. Treat: Having a dom side (somewhat like how she acted with Jake while under mind control) and coming to terms with it. Treat: Detective work with Dad. No-Sburb AU where Earth is nonetheless under the insidious control of Crocker Corp, and Jane slowly becomes aware of it. Jane being a ruthless business mogul - way too ruthless, actually; maybe her friends intervene, maybe it's too late.

Canon-specific Do Not Want: Ego's presence.
Ayesha: Unravelled from composed golden leader to disgraced from her position and vengeance-obsessed. Any further glimpse into worldbuilding for the Sovereign's society - food, rest, entertainment, how they know ravening beasts will come to steal their batteries, etc. Getting into a down-and-dirty physical fight - or perhaps some other situation she's not used to (having to camp out??). Interacting with a major player in the galaxy's politics. Interaction with Nebula after they've captured her.
Bruce Banner: On the run. Waking up from running off in AOU and realising the Hulk has steered him INTO SPACE. Or an AU where he wakes up to a drastically different world. Treat: Hugs with Avengers. Meeting the Guardians of the Galaxy. Bruce and Hulk interacting - in person, or somehow managing to leave messages.
Drax: Interacting with Hovat and Kamaria (thought brought on by Vol. 2: if Yondu and Peter look "exactly alike" according to Drax, this family could look really different from each other according to we who have more conventional views). Treat: Drax in a v. comfy oversized jersey (I've wanted this for a long time before Vol. 2 so feel free to ignore new 'sensitive nipples' info, or to have an adorable cuddly jersey with nipple-windows cut out). Being domestic. Earning his title of "The Destroyer". Back-to-back teamwork in battle.
Groot: Internal biology art - preferably weird internal biology, mixing the tree aspect with other things. How he severed that toe without the toe-owner yelling the house down. Termites :(. Angry tree baby making someone regret messing with him. Meeting other flora colossi. First meeting with Rocket.
Jane Foster: Anything with Jane and stars - stylised or realistic; can be anything from her walking from star to star, or looking through a telescope. Attempting to dress up in order to receive her Nobel Prize. Trick: influence from the Aether (er, in some way other than being knocked out). Building her own equipment, possibly looking a little mad scientist as she does it.
Nick Fury: Coming up against something he, at last, finds himself in no way prepared for. A view on him as a kid or teenager - was there any sign of the kind of person he might become? Vampire Fury. Literally herding cats (because I'm easily amused, and that's probably a lot like what he does on a daily basis anyway).
Nova Prime (Irani Rael): Reading through a report written by the Guardians - surely that could result in a really entertaining face. Dealing with a very unusual threat. Interacting with the Nova Force (the energy that helps keep the Nova Corps powerful; go with comics canon, do something with a twist for MCU-verse, or go creepy trick with it). In a moment of relaxation.
Meredith Quill: Meredith and Peter dancing - at home, in a grassy field, at the local store, at Grandpa Quill's place, AU where they're both in space ... anywhere, any ages. Cruising in her awesome car. Singing Beyoncé's "Ego" with great regret or irony, with Peter trying to be supportive as he dies a bit on the inside. Any scene featuring Meredith + lyrics of a song on one of the Awesome Mixes.
Peter Quill: Meredith and Peter dancing - at home, in a grassy field, at the local store, at Grandpa Quill's place, AU where they're both in space ... anywhere, any ages. Treat: Peter having a different personal style at some point as he grows up; bonus for dyed hair. (This could also be always-a-girl Peter, and I'd especially like if she gets herself big teased-up 80s hair if she feels like being fancy.) Treat: Grandpa Quill reunion (he was briefly visible escaping from the Expansion, and so is, happily, still alive for it). Draped all over one or more of his friends.
Scott Lang: Corralling Cassie's giant ant. A way he tried to make up to Sam for the fight during the break-in at the Avengers base. On the run. On a date. Both the preceding at once! Hugs with his family, friends, or his side of the CW team. Training or crime-fighting with Hope.

Crossover with other Hozier song/s: "Like Real People Do", "Run", the crime family of the "From Eden" video playing the parts in this song or coming across the events of this song, the narrator from "Arsonist's Lullaby" providing yet another danger out in the woods ... and so on. If Dearest Love went somewhere, rather than the narrator not seeing them due to already being in the realm of the dead, where did they go? Wipe out the mystery and make it clear exactly what the narrator found in the woods. Alternately, make everything keep being hazy and feverish and far more unclear for the narrator; that could even be something that saves them. Treat: happy ending for the fox (maybe it's a weird ending too, but happy). The narrator feeling they have to make up to Dearest Love for forgetting all about them in that moment of being chased.

Dismantling various back-up plans Daemon Spade had put in place while occupying his mind. How it felt to realise Daemon Spade was in his head in the first place. Interacting with the rest of Simon post-Spade (possibly plus the new addition, Skull) - how does he relate to them now? Going on a picnic with family/friends.
Kyoko: Using dying will flames unexpectedly - I like her with mist, sun, desert, or sky flames. Kyoko forgetting something huge and distressing, as she did for a time with the early events of the future arc (here are manga panels where she mentions it). Food kink. Adjusting to things going back to normal after TYL arc. Dealing with things veering sharply away from normal again. Getting some hitman/mafia tips from Bianchi. Her rituals for luck.
Lal Mirch: The Arcobaleno curse affecting her in unexpected ways. Hearing of all the Arcobaleno dying as Byakuran's plans take hold. Going from being a respected soldier to part of the criminal underworld. AU with home tutor hitman Lal Mirch putting Tsuna through his paces (or someone else, for further AU - maybe Xanxus). Treat: Encountering Ginger Bread again and soundly beating him.
Shittopi: Tragic Simon family backstory, but only if Shittopi's brand of weirdness is not 100% a direct result of being messed up by the murder of her extended family. Swamp flame powers. Treat: Her interest in UMAs and how she concludes Gokudera is one. Treat: Futa and Shittopi becoming friends and no one being able to figure out how serious they are about the voices they hear from outer space, especially since Shittopi's supposed to be human and Futa's powers were sealed in the Kokuyo arc. How she acts as part of the family team when she's so focused on herself and proud to be so.
Shoichi: Adventures during his time-travelling - I'd love to see more of how those five-minute glimpses went for him (especially the one where he became a musician. But also the varied apocalypses). TYL Shoichi making his plans with Tsuna and Hibari - I like the idea that he was the one to shoot TYL Tsuna with the special bullet that made it look like he was dead. Reborn beginning to pick on Shoichi for his potential, too, in some special and torturous Reborn way. Happy college years with Byakuran.

Feferi Peixes: Always knowing that the world was going to end. Gladiator AU with Feferi as one of the gladiators. Gamzee Makara: Anything about how he came into his subjugglator heritage so spectacularly, chucklevoodoos and all, during Murderstuck. (I can never get enough.) The Handmaid: Any kind of happy ending for her, where she gets personal autonomy - but that can go trick or treat. Kurloz Makara: A scene from the Beforan Sgrub session. Any Kurloz-style body horror - spooky scary skeleton, tongue-removal, lip-stitching. Trick: How people experience the most terrifying 'typing' quirk. Life on Beforus. Trick: Doing terrible things to his friends. Watching the Grand Highblood and/or Psiioniic and/or Disciple from the dream bubbles. Treat: No-Sgrub AU and growing away from the worse aspects of the clown religion. Humanstuck interpretations.
Jane Crocker: Liveblogging bits of Detective Pony. Treat: Having a dom side (somewhat like how she acted with Jake while under mind control) and coming to terms with it. Treat: Detective work with Dad. No-Sburb AU where Earth is nonetheless under the insidious control of Crocker Corp, and Jane slowly becomes aware of it. Treat: Drax in a v. comfy oversized jersey (I've wanted this for a long time before Vol. 2 so feel free to ignore new 'sensitive nipples' info, or to have an adorable cuddly jersey with nipple-windows cut out). Groot: Internal biology art - preferably weird internal biology, mixing the tree aspect with other things. How he severed that toe without the toe-owner yelling the house down. Termites :(. Jane Foster: Anything with Jane and stars - stylised or realistic; can be anything from her walking from star to star, or looking through a telescope. Attempting to dress up in order to receive her Nobel Prize. Trick: influence from the Aether (er, in some way other than being knocked out). Building her own equipment, possibly looking a little mad scientist as she does it.
Nick Fury: Coming up against something he, at last, finds himself in no way prepared for. A view on him as a kid or teenager - was there any sign of the kind of person he might become? Vampire Fury. Literally herding cats (because I'm easily amused, and that's probably a lot like what he does on a daily basis anyway).
Nova Prime (Irani Rael): Reading through a report written by the Guardians - surely that could result in a really entertaining face. Dealing with a very unusual threat. Interacting with the Nova Force (the energy that helps keep the Nova Corps powerful; go with comics canon, do something with a twist for MCU-verse, or go creepy trick with it). In a moment of relaxation.
Meredith Quill: Meredith and Peter dancing - at home, in a grassy field, at the local store, at Grandpa Quill's place, AU where they're both in space ... anywhere, any ages. Cruising in her awesome car. Singing Beyoncé's "Ego" with great regret or irony, with Peter trying to be supportive as he dies a bit on the inside. Any scene featuring Meredith + lyrics of a song on one of the Awesome Mixes.
Peter Quill: Meredith and Peter dancing - at home, in a grassy field, at the local store, at Grandpa Quill's place, AU where they're both in space ... anywhere, any ages. Treat: Peter having a different personal style at some point as he grows up; bonus for dyed hair.
