Yuletide 2022
Hello! I've got a bunch of prompts here, but I'm not picky. If you have an idea you're passionate about, and my requested characters are there while my DNWs are not, please go for it. I hope you have fun writing!
I'm
Etnoe on AO3.
DNW:
- breaking the fourth wall (characters referring to us, the audience; characters referring to being fictional)
- dom/sub, rape, spanking, fisting, scat, race kink, sex involving characters under 16
- canon characters dying permanently, hopeless or unhappy ending*, addiction
- focus on torture, serial killers, zombies (unless present in canon), eating of any sapient species (though blood-drinking is fine)
- unrequested non-canon ships. (A 'canon ship' means whatever romantic relationship, crushing, flirting, implied romantic relationship, sex, unrequited love or past relationship happened in canon, as long as it stays on the same level as canon.)
* In my AO3 sign-up, I have a DNW for a "hopeless ending" for Inn Between and Homeward Bounders - so basically, I'm fine with bittersweetness, unhappiness, or darkness as long as there's still a clear textual chance to improve things. For A Monster in Paris and Girl Genius it's a DNW for an "unhappy ending" because for those I'd much prefer an upbeat ending.
Girl Genius
The Homeward Bounders
Inn Between
A Monster in Paris
Girl Genius
DNW exception: I'm not much interested in reading dom/sub but if there are femdom elements, then that is just staying true to the spirit of canon. At the level of strong hints or ribald jokes, I'm down for it.
Character inclusion: I love them all, but I don't need them all in one fic. Feel free to focus on just one.
I love the humour in this comic and anything with that goofy atmosphere would be great. But I'd also like anything exploring darker stuff and still keeps the humour. There's just something about that tension where there are monsters, raids, dubcon opportunities (and every now and then, heavily implied kinking on it) galore ... but also things ending up mostly OK.
Oggie
- Expansion on any of this backstory with his girlfriend-then-wife and/or newly discovered kid. Whether pre-jägerdraught or after.
- More family situations with Oggie. Family gatherings, feuds he wants the newer generations to never let go, someone getting on his case for being a deadbeat grandpa and he's got to make it up, there is a greatest-grandparent that gets unearthed from somewhere and acts like Oggie's a kid, he gives opinions on the kids' education...
- After this page showing some of Oggie's descendants, I saw a theory where he's Zulenna's greatn-grandpa, based on the idea that the redhead with long hair whose back is to the viewer could be her. This would be amazing. What would Zulenna even do with this. Or put Oggie on a throne by some convoluted 50 Families bloodline justification and I will be all over it. Full-on Princess Diaries AU him. And now we've met Monahan who has similar hair, so if Oggie is family to the new god queen that's great too! He could probably catch rats for her for family bonding. He and Albia could argue about the advice they give to her.
- I ship every jäger with Agatha. I'd love something carefree and fling-ish here. Oggie has a horn and horn-as-handle is nice in xenokink. Maybe impreg kink but without actual impreg? But no smut and only fun dates is also great.
- That time Snakkerjape said a monster will break a bad order is very interesting to me in terms of jäger loyalty, and that story depicting the jägers as standing against the other(?) monsters. I'd be into seeing what the "break it" point might be. Any Heterodyne(s) welcome.
- I'm intrigued by why Oggie shouldn't know that Dimo can clean up nice (here).
Dimo
- Between Da Boyz, he's kind of actually the smart one despite what he says about wild jägers in general qualifying. I'd like to see some of that playing out as he and the others get used to being wild, or after some years ranging the wilderness.
- That time where Higgs and Vole end up talking about the deal with jäger generals (here and here) makes me want more of Dimo the acting general. Does he have any similar feelings or is he taking a different approach? How would he interact with the other generals once they're out of the time freeze? What expectations do other jägers have when they approach him?
- He didn't get a chance to harass Grandpa Zombie Andronicus like the other Boyz and Jenka (here and here), and this is a shame. Would love to see it rectified, whether in that scene, if Andy gets resurrected again, or a look at how it was when he was alive.
- I ship every jäger with Agatha. With Dimo I like how he's subordinate & preternaturally devoted but also relied on for advice, and occasionally takes it on himself to teach Agatha stuff like that ridic time they were running through Paris and he insisted she learn how to raid for clothes while she goes with it. It's an intriguing balance; how might it change with romance/sex?

Jorgi
- His backstory of being a violently unenthusiastic philosopher cracks me up. It is the best. I would love the moment where he truly loses it - did any other family members join in? Did he do a one-man rampage until he met the Heterodyne or have to build his steam back up to get the chance to join the horde? How much flak does he get when some smarts slip out in front of jägerkin, or can he convincingly hide it?
- I ship every jäger with Agatha. I read fics where the jäger who thinks Agatha smells really good is Jorgi, and that's a fun angle of him getting attached to some rando [suppressed Heterodyne] and having a simple nice time with a sweetheart, terrifying merely a few passersby [as all the trouble that can drop on them teeters at a growing height].
- I also ship Jorgi/Tarvek. That rescue scene linked above where Tarvek is increasingly burdened with the heroism he is bone-deep convinced he doesn't have and Jorgi having NO FUN with philosophy: it is a delight. I'd love a dynamic where Jorgi is convinced ever after that Tarvek is a sweet dude and his best buddy and the hottest of surprisingly swole schmott guys.
- That time Snakkerjape said a monster will break a bad order is very interesting to me in terms of jäger loyalty, and that story depicting the jägers as standing against the other(?) monsters. I'd be into seeing what the "break it" point might be. Any Heterodyne(s) welcome.
Otilia
- Her perspective after being transformed into Von Pinn. (The wiki says that one of the novels elaborates on this, but I haven't read it so do what you will.) What was her relationship with Lucrezia like? She apparently went berserk when Klaus Barry died - what was the balance between love and thwarted duty there? Maybe an AU where she takes care of baby Agatha too?
- I love when she's having a great time in a Fun-Sized Mobile Agony and Death Dispenser: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6. I'd like to see how this impacts her in the future. Will she want anything like her old muse body, or is it going to be heavily modified? What effect does it have when she meets her sisters?
- The muses generally are fascinating to me as these old-yet-unmatched machines, and Otilia as a lens to explore that would work great. I would love a look at how things were when they were with hanging with Van Rijn and/or the Storm King's court. What was a usual day like for Otilia - or an extraordinary one? Maybe this could be done through a look at in-universe sources - history books, legends people retell, her character in the Storm King opera, newspapers of the time, scientific notes...
- So way back there was the jäger André with a crush, and Von Pinn ... possibly being OK with it. I'm down for more of that. What's that going to look like with a post-Von Pinn Otilia? I'm down for any answer, e.g. André reacting tragically and Otilia having a nice time batting him around, a monster discovering his inner robo(monster)fucker, or a crush left behind and a new & wonderfully violent friendship sailing. With André and the other jägers allowed back home at last (well ... post time freeze), they could meet again in Mechanicsburg. She hunts him down to show off her new body? They spar so she gets more used to it? He gives a hurt/comfort hug because he's back home but she can't be with her sisters yet? Or they could even get (one-sidedly?) flirty back when the muses were still at the Storm King's court.
The Homeward Bounders - Diana Wynne Jones
Helen Haras-Uquara
- I want to see her rebuild her collapsing dinosaur/monster-ravaged world so bad. Or at least her immediate corner of it. Bonuses: cool things to do with the magic arm, dinomonster-riding. Does she like those beasties too or are they the one type of horrible creature she doesn't love?
- More of her getting used to travelling the Bounds with Jamie, and slowly getting used to living with him, and eventually growing attached. He'd probably be pretty different to most relationships she'd had, if not all of them. Friendship or getting a crush are both fine with me.
- Crossover with other DWJ stories. She has some goddess-related issues in common with Millie over at Chrestomanci, I bet she and Luke from Eight Days of could get up to all kinds of unmanageable things, maybe Howl was tapping into the bounds when setting up his inter-dimensional magic, there's so much going on in Hexwood that surely some overlap could be found... Pick any one you like, though if it's House of Many Ways then please avoid any noncon oviposition. Lubbocks in general, maybe, since they seem to have it on their mind so much.
- Crossover with Pokémon. I'd love a fusion where she's on a journey to collect only 'creepy'/'disgusting' Pokémon and adore them, or maybe she's not even on a journey, they just start finding her and she couldn't be happier. Or the Pokémon world is one that she visits with Jamie and Joris (does he somehow just have pokéballs tucked away).
- I only know second-hand about tabletop roleplay, but it could be fun-yet-awful to see how RL incidents with tabletop RP could reflect on Helen and the other Bounders. What if They start coming up with new editions of the rules? New systems entirely?? Did Helen and her people suddenly find themselves unable to do certain things they'd taken for granted one day, but whole new abilities to master? Or typical pitfalls a group of players might run into and what effects it has on the people trapped in the game.
- Part of the reason why Homeward Bounders had a big effect on me is the frame - Jamie is telling his story himself. Something similar, or more in-universe dictation but with Helen speaking would be great. There's also a terrible part of me that can't stop thinking about one of Them doing an actual play podcast about his campaign on her world and telling a story about her that way.
Inn Between
DNW exception: if Fina shows up then a few offhand comments that break the fourth wall, like she'd make in canon, are fine.
Meltyre, Sterling Whitetower
For ease of reference, the main episodes that feature these two start here with episode 1.1: The Goblin's Head and go back to page 6 (transcriptions included):
https://www.thegoblinshead.com/listen/page/9/
And here are potentially relevant extras:
BONUS: The Innkeeper (Enjoyed their byplay in this Very Much)
BONUS: Killiker the Fantastic (Sterling's dad)
BONUS: Sorcery (Meltyre and an old classmate)
BONUS: What Are The Odds? (Sterling and a subordinate)
Inn Beacween (a crossover with another podcast, The Beacon. I haven't listened to The Beacon yet but I did like how the casts interacted if that's something you want to make use of.)
- I have a conviction that Sterling has a massive crush on Meltyre but has not remotely conceptualised this, or attraction to any man. I would love something where he stumbles onto realising it. Or Meltyre figures out there's attraction in the air. I'm down for requited or unrequited, both are great, especially if their friendship is maintained.
- Alternate first meetings. Perhaps Meltyre doesn't need to become an adventurer but keeps noticing this one paladin who sometimes wears truly absurd hats. Maybe Sterling decides one day he needs magic lessons and ends up knocking on Meltyre's door. Etc.
- Yet more bodyswap. I just really loved the bodyswap ep and would love an extended version of that, or maybe swapping with other people. Those in the season 3 crew, or some of the characters they've met along the way, or different swaps in their own group, or simply with each other. (This could be an alternate first meeting!)
- That adventure where they meet up with a vampire wizard and Sterling almost gets turned? Vampire Sterling would be amazing, especially if still determined to be a paladin. Meltyre's guilt would be off the charts. Would they be able to get Sterling turned back? (Might an undead guy hanging around sit poorly with Velune in a necromancy-related way?)
- Family interactions would be great. Sterling getting to know Meltyre's sisters, what's it like for the siblings now that financial pressure is off and he's usually home, AU where Meltyre's parents never died (Meet the Parents romance trope?), what Sterling's mother thinks of Meltyre now that he's politically important, both of them meeting Killiker...
A Monster In Paris
DNW exception: I still don't want eating of any sapient species, but considering one of my prompts, blood-drinking that doesn't kill anyone is fine.
Francoeur
I have woobie urges straight from the movie and also worldbuilding urges absolutely not supported by it. My heart broke in the absolute best way when Francoeur was singing sadly and it makes me want more of him. I am down for anything where he has a good time. A great time! With his friends, with new friends, with a lover or several, more Quintessentially French tropes going his way, it's all good.
- Speaking of new friends, I'd love Francoeur to meet the no-longer-absent Professor. Or an expansion on that scene of Raoul and Charles explaining why it would be great if the Professor just turned the flea back into a 'monster'. What impassioned plea did they make on Francoeur's behalf?
- I am plagued by what Francoeur eats. Is this going to a French Dracula place or what. I still want him to be a sweetheart, but when the lovely monster is a giant flea then it is hard to avoid the idea that he's going to be in need of gallons of blood pretty damn quick. Or maybe someone will save the day with a thin soup?? The monster body has a different constitution to the plain old flea's?
- Francoeur's lyrical skills and singing are top-notch, but he doesn't speak in the usual way. Any exploration of this would be interesting, including in a magical realism way. Or maybe he begins to speak eventually, for whatever reason - he's emotionally ready, or mad science helped?
- There could be more monsters in Paris! Charles and Francoeur already get along well, I bet they could have a nice time with other products of mad science and accidents. After the giant sunflowers helped to deal with the flooding and Francoeur became a star, Paris might be more ready to accept this as a thing.
- I'm down for Lucille/Francoeur or Raoul/Lucille/Francoeur. Feel free to add more Weird Happy Phantom of the Opera Riff elements in there.
