I feel like I ought to make a post about Katekyo Hitman Reborn ending though I haven't been properly in the fandom for some time, but on reading the last chapter (and as a natural outflow of the preceding hundred or so), my reaction can be summed up as

Well okay, the art was cute and it did fit the broad tone of the story. I'm not sure if that's good, but there is something to say for being consistent.

Yeah, I am disappointed (there could have been so many interesting stories told and so much nonsense mafia mythology made up! the stakes could have got much higher!) but also in a resigned way. It really does make sense with the Daily Life Arc start to the story, the emphasis on comradeship, and the way character arcs tended towards being circular. it's a endearing that it ended like this, in a way.

Hopefully it will be even more ridiculous! Amano's good at that. She's done (is doing?) character designs for an anime currently running, but I don't think she helped with the story. And now I can't remember the name of it anyway.

I think a lot of us were expecting the series to close with the Rainbow arc (she resolved the magic babies! WHO BELIEVED SHE WOULD EVER DO THAT), but I guess for the series, it makes sense to circle back to its Daily Life roots and end there. Though no lie, I was wildly hoping for a "10 years later" epilogue with Tsuna in Italy installed as "NOT-THE-VONGOLA-BOSS-DAMMIT-REBORN"

She did the character designs for Psycho Pass, yeah! I've watched a couple of eps, and it looks like it could be cool, but I'm also SUPER WARY because one of the dudes writing it is Gen Urobochi of PMMM/Fate Zero/etc fame so it's nearly guaranteed to end in ROCKS FALL EVERYONE DIES.

RIGHT! RIGHT? I just wanted a shadowy last panel with the 10th gen ... or neo Primo gen? looking hardcore. (I liked the "Neo Vongola Primo" thing, silly as it was. It seems hopeful.)

Oh THAT guy. From everything I've heard about those series I cannot remotely blame you for being wary.

YES EXACTLY that would have been badass and awesome AND mysterious without negating the Daily Life angle!

Neo-Vongola-Primo is the CLASSIC REBORN SOLUTION of "solving your semantics without actually solving anything" so I just sat and laughed. I'm now pretty sure that Tsuna will DENY BEING BOSS until the day he DIES because he just doesn't want Reborn to leave ever, so Reborn is eventually just going to drag him to Italy in a sack no matter what he says.

I intend to spoil the hell out of myself for this series and wait until it ends BEFORE deciding if I want to watch the rest. Seriously, Gen-BLOODGUTSDESPAIR-Urobochi, Amano? Is this supposed to be a sign re: your future projects or are they hoping your KHR rep distracts us from expecting the inevitable bloodbath? It doesn't

Pretty much. Tsuna is now officially up to three wives - Haru, Kyoko, and Reborn.

KHR did get pretty bleak, in its own way, especially with the Future Arc. Amano might yet produce something along Gen Urobochi-like lines...?
